School Meal Initiative
The Teachers told us that many malnourished children arrived at school with no lunch, and had no money to buy lunch either. This situation was not only unhealthy but not conducive to learning. The charity now pays for lunch for both staff and pupils. Our photos show Betty, one of the two cooks, busy preparing posho and beans and some of the pupils who have just finished their meal.
In the images below, Betty sits with her cousin and sorts out the bad beans from the good, to cook for school lunch. Lunch is usually posho and beans cooked on an open fire. The teachers also enjoy their lunch.
