Wayfaring…Music & Poetry Concert
Join us for “Wayfaring”, an inspiring, honest and thought-provoking evening of song, story, poetry and performance.
The journey of life with its landscape of questions and quirks, obstacles and oddities, heartbreaks and hopes is explored in this warm, witty and occasionally wise concert from spoken-word artist – Chris Matthewman, and musician – Brian Langsdon.
Brian Langsdon plays lead, rhythm and bass guitar with several well-known bands in and around Kent. A very talented musician, Brian’s great skill, whether playing electric, acoustic or resonator guitar, adding lead vocal or harmony, is his sympathetic understanding of performance. He has had the privilege of working with some outstanding musicians, and equally enjoys both playing and engineering great music, whether live or in the studio.
Chris Matthewman is a storyteller, spoken-word artist, songwriter, and occasional stand-up, based on Planet Thanet. Over the years he has taken his warm, witty wordplay and thoughtful, theatrical storytelling to the Edinburgh Fringe, the Leicester Comedy Festival and a church hall somewhere in Denmark. Part poet, part punster, part ponderer, he is equally at home with the silly, serious, and spiritual sides of life, with work touching on themes of meaning, masculinity, movies and the mysteries of the universe. He is a previous Bard of Northampton, a Margate Bookie Slam Champion, a two-time winner of the Feast of Fools Great Lying Contest, and in 1976 took first prize in a Butlins Beautiful Baby Competition.
