Nakatunya Church Community Project
Specifically sponsored by the congregation at Queens Road Baptist Church, this building project has transformed community life at Nakatunya. Prior to its completion, the congregation would gather under a beautiful flame tree to worship in the open.
The church was built in memory of those killed during LRA incursions and has become the centre of community life, being used for a wide range of activities. The community is largely made up of people who were displaced by rebel activity and have been too frightened to return home.
The Trustees attended a service at Nakatunya church in Oct 2011, when the Dr Stephen Cave based his sermon on a ‘chicken on a stick’
In 2012, the church floor has been properly cemented to provide a smooth hard wearing surface. An office and kitchen have been added at the side, and electricity laid on.
