Praise and Recognition for Teachers

The Headteacher of Crossroads Secondary School, Robert Oluka, has recently written to us, telling us about his wonderful staff:

“The teachers are doing a commendable job to add value to the students’ performance no matter the grades they attained in primary. Not only do the teachers commit to class work but they also help in multiple challenging problems faced by the students from their different family backgrounds and the communities where they come from.”

He tells us that the staff face many new taxes and they have not had a salary increase in a while. The salaries range from £150 a month for the Headteacher to £70 a month for a part time teacher. Some of our teachers at Crossroads Secondary School have worked there for over 16 years, which shows their commitment to our school! As a charity, Global Challenge are committed to paying the staff salaries and we really need your support to be able to continue to meet this aim.

The salary bill for teachers is £1800 per month. Regular giving for Crossroads School, in the UK, stands at £1,700 per month and so our reserves from fundraising are being depleted very quickly.

One of our Charity Objectives is to alleviate poverty and suffering as well as improving education in the Soroti region of Uganda. Our supporters and the local community can help us by sponsoring a teacher.

We are asking for a regular commitment of giving from our community. Could you spare £5 or £10 or even £100 a month to help?

If so, please speak to a Global Challenge Trustee and check the information board in the Queens Road Baptist Church reception area, if you are able. Why not join our Facebook and Instagram pages or email us globalchallengecharity@qrbc.net? You can find more details of how to donate on the Donate Now page of this website.

Please continue to pray and support us in our need for regular, monthly support. Thank you.

Meet some of our amazing teachers!
