Training and Development
For our project to succeed it’s important that parents, guardians and volunteers receive guidance on how to look after children with special needs.
Medical office and Special Needs Project (SNP) Co-ordinator Billy organises meetings, either in community centres or at Global Care’s offices in Soroti. Billy provides guidance for families and invites the physiotherapist from Soroti Regional Hospital to speak and give advice. Expertise is also on hand from Global Challenge teams on their annual visits. Global Challenge co-ordinator, senior pastor Abraham, also attends when he can to give guidance on family values, the social issues surrounding disability and the importance of both parents taking responsibility.
Training Day February 2014 – at Global Care Offices
This event brought together teachers (including heads), church leaders, Global Challenge volunteers and parents of children with disabilities. It was held at the offices at Global Care and the transport and catering costs were funded by Global Challenge.
